from LA to Oakland - A Live Stream of Watts Village's 6/10 performance of IT'S A KRIP HOP NATION
Fri, Jun 10, 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
A special event where the IT'S A KRIP HOP NATION presentation on Friday 6/10 will be Streamed LIVE from the Rosenthal Theatre to our partners at the Oakland Lions Center for the Blind. Post-performance discussion will be moderated in LA by Artistic Director, Bruce A. Lemon, Jr and in Oakland with Eric Inman from Watts Village and Michelle Taylor Lagunas, CEO of LIONS Center for the Blind.
A theatrical call to action to create access and awareness for performers with disabilities is comprised of source material from our former Co-Founder, Lynn Manning, with additional support by Donald Jolly. Informed and inspired by interviews with people with disabilities acquired through violence or accident, this play chronicles the lives of two recently disabled performers, Reggie "Rough Rider" Dunmeyer and Terresa Lopes, as they battle ableism in their attempt to break into the mainstream hip‐hop music industry.
